Conceptualization of Security in Mexico's Energy Policy at the beginning of the 21st century

In recent decades, there has been an increase in studies on energy security in Mexico, especially through its use as a variable in regional cooperation and integration processes. However, its structuring within domestic policy has not been identified, for which reason, the present study is based on two main questions: how energy security has been defined and what strategies have been designed to manage it. It is argued that energy security has been understood as the continuous supply of hydrocarbons at competitive prices and sustainability standards, which has led to the development of various strategies based on legal and institutional reconfiguration. To carry out this study, a descriptive method and documentary analysis techniques are used, during the period from 2001 to 2018.
